Jesse Rodríguez won, by unanimous decision over twelve rounds, defeating former world champion, Carlos Cuadras, to conquer the world super flyweight title of the World Boxing Council, this Saturday at the “Footprint Center”, in Phoenix, Arizona.
The hunger for victory was not enough for Carlos Cuadras (39-5-1, 27 KO’s) to be crowned world champion again. Carlos was dropped by a right uppercut by southpaw Jesse in round three.
The Mexican was surprised by the undefeated 22 years old, Jesse Rodríguez (15-0, 10 KO’s), who dominated the fight due to his speed, power of his fists and adroit combinations. A late replacement, he`s now the youngest current world champion.
Rodríguez earned a unanimous decision at the Footprint Center in Phoenix, USA, with cards of 117-110, 115-112 and 117-110 to triumph.
“This was exactly what I expected and I got it. I knew I had to keep boxing, follow the strategy and that’s what I did. I was confident that I could put on a great fight with such early notice,” Rodríguez commented.
