Gary Russell Jr. and Mark Magsayo will clash in Atlantic City

Gary Russell Jr. (31-1, 18 KOs) from the United States, will make the mandatory defence of his featherweight title of the World Boxing Council against Filipino Mark Magsayo, presented by “Showtime Championship Boxing” on January 22nd in the Borgata Hotel Casino in Atlantic City.

Russell, 33, has defended his WBC belt five times since he defeated Mexico’s Jhonny González in March 2015.
Magsayo (23-0, 16 KOs), who is trained by Freddie Roach, is the number two contender for the WBC and is coming off a major win by defeating Mexican Julio Ceja.
