The WBC is offering a helping hand to Amateur Boxing, to help the future of the sport, because without the foundation stone of the amateur sphere the next step transition to a professional career is unnecessarily steep gradient curbstone hard.
Referee, Judge and Boxing Great Stephen Blea told the 59th World Boxing Council Convention in Mexico City, that earlier this year, USA Boxing and the Reyes family got together to team up to have a regional tournament in Maine. A great success, because it attracted more than one hundred and forty boxers.
Next year from April 29-30th there will be another tournament. The WBC Challenge will be for all amateur boxers nationwide in the United States, and organizers are working on this becoming a ranking event.
Stephen said: “We are so excited this is going to happen. We are asking for the blessing of all the WBC, because it`s so close to our hearts.” Stephen was presented with a special WBC medal in recognition of the superb work he does in the amateur field, which will produce the next crop of world champions, not that far down the road.
