This morning at the traditional “Coffee Tuesdays” at the historic Hacienda de Cortes, the elected Mayor of the Coyoacan Delegation, Giovani Gutiérrez welcomed the boxing family to talk about the commitment he along with his Mayor’s Office have placed above all with its citizens.
For the new Mayor, it is extremely exciting to be able to make Coyoacán the best region in Mexico City, emphasizing three important points: safety, culture and sports.
He stressed that sport is the means to create a healthy, integrated society, away from vices, and after several discussions with the President of the WBC, Mr. Mauricio Sulaimán, they have reached a great agreement to make Coyoacán the epicenter of boxing in Mexico City and where the new world champions will come from.
The commitments with which this dream will start are:
Knockout of bullying
Overcoming any discrimination and harassment of women
Physical activations
Respect for older adults
Boxing in all the colonies of the Mayor’s Office
Boxing clinics taught by great world champions
Art and culture classes through the Scholas program
Champions participation in Coyoacan
Hall of Fame in Coyoacán
Boxing cultural exchange trips
Produce a world champion
In this way and with the firm conviction of giving the best of himself, the elected Mayor Giovani Gutiérrez will transform Coyoacán and give his people the tranquility they have been waiting for.
The President of the WBC congratulated the Mayor, since initiatives like these ones are what our country needs, and reiterated all the support of the World Boxing Council to make this dream come true.
As a symbol of this, Mauricio presented him recognition and a glove signed by the world champions Carlos Zarate, Pipino Cuevas, Esmeralda Moreno, Isaac Bustos and Rocky Hernández.
