Jake LaMotta was knocked down for the only time in his 106-fight career by Danny Nardico.
LaMotta, who lost his middleweight title to the great Sugar Ray Robinson two years earlier, was floored in the seventh round and failed to come out for the eighth.
The “Raging Bull” fought three more times before retiring in 1954 with a record of 83 victories, 30 by knockout, 19 defeats and four draws.
