The Cancun-based Acapulco fighter , Albino ‘La Cobra’ Herrera won the Fecarbox silver Featherweight belt in Belize at the end of May in what was his first venture outside of Mexican territory.
Albino ‘La Cobra’ Herrera, 28 years old, defeated local Eduardo Esquivel by technical knockout in the sixth round with a brave attacking boxing style applying constant, well directed and intelligent pressure.
Albino traveled all the way to Mexico City and attended the WBC Coffee Tuesday, where he was greeted with open arms by WBC President Mauricio Sulaimán, who presented him with his Belt that confirms and celebrates him as a new plus promising WBC monarch.
Modest, polite but brimming with pride Albino said: “I had been working so hard with my Team. I got the opportunity to face the champion and thanks to God and all the work in the gym, we managed to defeat him by KO in six rounds.”
“I feel so very happy. I feel great satisfaction. This was my first WBC title, and I hope it will be the first of many. I am working hard to become WBC world champion.”
Mauricio Sulaimán dedicated words of praise, encouragement and inspiration to him and urged him to continue working plus trying his utmost to achieve his Green and Gold dreams. The new Champion and his prized belt were inseparable!
