Unified Super Middleweight World Champion, Saúl “Canelo” Álvarez, successfully defended his titles in style, and took home the beautiful TAMAULIPAS belt, by defeating former world champion Jaime Munguía via unanimous decision, in the main event the Mexican Cinco de Mayo celebration, in the T-Mobile Arena, Las Vegas.
Initially, Munguía was the more aggressive, stalking and attacking Canelo with long jabs and straight, clinical combinations, but Canelo, who is a seasoned maestro of defense, countered beautifully. and In round three a Canelo right uppercut found the mark, so Munguia visited the canvas, dusting his shorts.
From that point on, vigilant, patient, unhurried Canelo, calmly began to take control of the fight, connecting hard with the clearest blows to body and head.
