WBC Interim Featherweight Champion “Heartbreaker” Brandon Figueroa almost demolished Jesse Magdaleno’s liver  in stopping him at the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas, Nevada.

The fight was close, to and fro and competitive during the early stages, with the shorter man utilizing the subtleties and guile garnered from his ample experience, to set an example,  boxing smart, to dodge and deflect flailing blows. But persistent, diligent Figueroa,  took control as the fight progressed, honing his great shape, by homing in, with more accurate clusters of punches, constantly driving Jesse on the ropes

Accordingly, in the final moments of the ninth round, in a toe to toe encounter, Figueroa unleashed a left uppercut to Magdaleno’s liver. He  crumpled to the canvas, with his toes curling in pain and his boots wiggling in frustration,  and was unable to rise let alone shine,  before Referee Allen Huggins’ reached the doleful decimal of ten. The end of the fight occurred at 2:59 minutes of the ninth round. Strictly observing the rules, that final count had continued after the bell tolled.

With this rib bender, Figueroa successfully defended his interim WBC featherweight title for the first time, improving his record to 25-1-1, with 19 knockouts. While Magdaleno is now 29-3, with 18 knockouts.
