Interim Featherweight Champion of the World Boxing Council, Texan Brandon “The Heartbreaker” Figueroa, will stake his title against the former world champion Jessie Magdaleno, this Saturday, May 4, in one of the main support fights of the mega card “Saúl Álvarez vs Jaime Munguía”, at the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas.
Figueroa has not fought since March of last year, when he defeated Mark Magsayo, to win this WBC title. He has a record of 24-1-1, with 18 knockouts. Magdaleno comes to this fight after his last defeat against Raymond Ford, in April of last year.
Magdaleno has a record of 29-2, with 18 knockouts. He was the WBO Super Bantamweight Champion by beating the legend Nonito Donaire in November 2016. But he was defeated in his second defense by Isaac Dogboe.
This Friday Figueroa registered 125.4 pounds, while Jessie weighed 128.6 pounds, so he will not be eligible to compete for the title held by Brandon.
