Charlie Edwards ended a hiatus of almost a year, winning the World Boxing Council’s International Silver title by defeating Georges Ory at York Hall in London, England.
Edwards, 31, marked the difference from the beginning with his powerful jab, to reaffirm his power with his forceful right hand.
Charlie dominated most of the fight showing that in this division he can do great things.
“It was very special, I have been through a lot. I want to thank God for putting me on this path and being able to overcome these tests to grow as a fighter.
“A huge thank you to my wife and daughter because I have given everything to this sport and I didn’t think I was going to get it back, I thought I was going to give up at certain stages, but looking at my wife and daughter, I just had to keep pushing myself. You can get back to where you need to be and I’m back here,” Edwards said.
The three judges’ scores were 98-92, all in favor of Edwards.
