The World Boxing Council and its President Mauricio Sulaimán, mourn the passing of promoter Gary Shaw, this Thursday, April 11.
Gary, born in New Mexico in 1944, and was a boxing man for most of his eventful life. He served as director of operations for the promoter Main Events, contributing to the organization of many great nights of boxing.
Later he founded Gary Shaw Productions, LLC, a company with which he participated in great fights in the history of the sport, such as Lennox Lewis vs. Vitali Klitschko, Diego Corrales vs. Jose Luis Castillo, Shane Mosley vs. Winky Wright, among many others.
Gary will always be remembered as a person dedicated to boxing, flamboyant, innovative, loquacious, loyal, caring, daring and protective of his boxers, but even more so, as a great human being.
The entire WBC family asks God to enjoy a sparkling conversation with Gary, as did with ourselves so many times. This is a sad time, but ameliorated by so many happy and everlasting memories of The Big Genial Fellow.
Rest in peace Dear Friend. We will miss you and we will always remember you with warmth and affection.
