Serhii Bohachuk brilliantly devised an impressive and mature performance, to defeat Brian Mendoza on the card headlined by Tim Tszyu vs. Sebastian Fundora at the inaugural Amazon Prime and Premier Boxing Champions event on Saturday, March 30 at the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas.
With this victory Bohachuk won the interim WBC super welterweight belt. Bohachuk worked Mendoza step by step, round after round, using his jab, left hook and right hook, intelligently and astutely applying non stop, unrelenting pressure.
Today, Serhii Bohachuk, accompanied by his Promoter Tom Loeffler, traveled to Mexico City, to receive from WBC President Mauricio Sulaimán, and WBC Vice President, Alberto León, the belt that endorses him as interim monarch in the 154 pounds division.

We are so proud that Ukraine has a new champion in Bohachuk. Our thoughts and prayers are always with Ukraine. Serhii has an interesting story, he went to Ukraine to renew his visa and 2 weeks later his country was invaded. There was a delicate balance for things to happen one way or another: To fight for his country or continue with his career.
“The sports ministry understood that it was necessary for him to continue fighting and representing his country inside the ring. He could be fighting and defending his country just like his brother is doing, but his destiny allowed him to be in Mexico today, representing his country as a world champion bringing hope to all the people. Last week he won the belt in Las Vegas and we couldn’t be more than proud.

“It is a true honor for me to present “Flaco” Bohachuk with his belt, but first I want to explain who he is. Serhii comes from a country that, due to its sporting results in recent years, has earned a very special place on the WBC world champion belt: Vitali, Wladimir, Lomachenko, Usyk, Gvozdyk and now Bohachuk
“ They all have positioned Ukraine at the top of boxing. I am sure that Serhii’s victory will motivate the people of Ukraine on a supreme inspirational level.
“Congratulations to Serhii. We are very proud of you. The Green and Gold WBC will always work very hard to ensure peace around the world and of course, in Ukraine.

“Thank you very much to all. I want to thank Mauricio Sulaimán and the WBC for their support throughout my career, but especially for their support shown to my country: Ukraine. Now I am world champion and I know that I am a motivation and an example. I know that my people are aware of what we are. We all know that Ukrainians are people are tough and we can conquer all.”
