Naoya Inoue receives the special award for Boxer of the year 2023, from the hands of WBC President Mauricio Sulaimán, at the Ohashi Boxing Gym in Yokohama Japan.
Inoue became the Undisputed Super Bantamweight champion, by knocking out Stephen Fulton in July and then Marlon Tápales in December. This was an unprecedented accomplishment, as he reigned as Undisputed Bantamweight Champion in 2022.
Together with “The Monster” was former WBC straw-weight champion Hideyuki Ohashi, who is now a successful boxing promoter and adroitly handles the career of Inoue.
Naoya Inoue’s record is an impressively unblemished 26-0 with 23 KO’s.
Naoya’s father , Shingo Inoue won the Trainer Of The Year 2023 Award.
Inoue is meticulously preparing to make his WBC mandatory title defense this coming May 6th, against former champion Luis Nery at the Tokyo Dome. It represents a huge event, as this is the first boxing extravaganza in this colossal venue, since Mike Tyson lost to Buster Douglas in the biggest upset in boxing history.
