This morning within the prestigious edifice of the Mexican Senate of the Republic, Senator José Narro Céspedes met with the boxing family not only to remember and commemorate the man who changed and transformed boxing Don José Sulaimán, but also and precisely in this spirit of serving for sport to launch the initiative for legal regulation because to this day there is something which does not exist and is imperative for a sport that has given so much fabulous glory to Mexico.
For the Senator, this will be one of the most important tasks for the coming months because although he recognized that it is a task that will take time, the most important thing is to take the first significant step to lobby for this bill in a maximum of two months.
Convinced that boxing is a Mexico’s number one sport, Senator Narro thanked all the host of champions present and reminded the entire boxing community that the Homeland is with them.
Mr. Héctor Sulaimán, vice president of the WBC, is proud and honored to be able to be in such an important venue for our country and what could be better than representing the ring heroes who have brought so much joy to Mexico.
Mr. Hector Sulaiman was emphatic when he said that today is a historic day for the sport, because he knows that if this law is approved it will definitively change the face and soul of boxing.
He added that these types of actions are what generate true change and leave a vital legacy, which is why he only had words of gratitude for the Senator and reiterated the support of the WBC.
The president of FECOMBOX, Mr. Juan Carlos Pelayo, praised the work of the Senator and especially this new initiative by Mr. Narro, since he speaks of his concern for the boxers.
He added that currently there are only three states of the Republic that have state regulations. Namely, the commissions of Mexico City, the State of Mexico and the State of Sonora.
He assured that there is no legal aspect that gives certainty to sport and that is why it is so very important to add reforms to the labor law and the Constitution.
For his part, Mr. Pelayo promised to work from his trenches so that this can come to fruition; However, he recalled that work and joint effort are the key.
