Alexandro ‘Peque’ Santiago will defend his World Boxing Council bantamweight title against Junto Nakatani on February 24 in Tokyo, Japan.
The champion from Tijuana will make his first defense of the world title that he won against the legendary Nonito Donaire last July. Peque’ (28-3-5, 14 KO’s) arrives with a streak of four consecutive victories after a defeat in November 2021.
Nakatani (25-0-0, 19 Ko’s) faces him at 118 pounds after having been champion in two different divisions (flyweight and super flyweight).
It will be a high-quality card, as that same night Takuma Inoue will face Jerwin Ancajas, while Kosei Tanaka will fight Christian Bacasegua.
This Friday the official weigh-in of the card took place. Santiago weighed 117.7 pounds, while Nakatani stopped the scale at 117.5 pounds, showing that both are in excellent shape to compete for the WBC 118-pound WBC Green and Gold Belt.
The fight will be broadcast on Amazon Prime for Japan and on ESPN for Latin America and USA.
