World Boxing Council super featherweight champion, O’Shaquie “Ice Water” Foster, will make his second defense of his title against Abraham “Super” Nova, this Friday, February 16 at The Theater at Madison Square Garden.
Foster (21-2, 10 KOs) is undefeated in 11 fights since suffering a split decision loss against Rolando Chinea in July 2016.
He won the World Boxing Council world title in February via a one-sided decision over Mexican star Rey Vargas. Eight months later, he defended his title for the first time with a 12th round knockout over Eduardo “Rocky” Hernández.
Nova (23-1, 16 KOs), born in Puerto Rico and raised in Albany, New York, fought 200 fights during an historic amateur career that included victories over Frank Martin, Richardson Hitchins and Nahir Albright.
In June 2022 he suffered the only setback of his career, a one-punch knockout at the hands of Cuban southpaw featherweight Robeisy Ramírez. Following this, Nova returned to super featherweight and earned victories over Adam Lopez and former world champion Jonathan Romero.
This Thursday the official weigh-in. Foster registered 130 pounds, while Nova was 129 pounds.
