Rising Star Callum “King” Walsh ( 9-0, 7KO`s) the WBC USA Silver super-welterweight Champion, is gearing up to celebrate St Patrick`s Day weekend in The Big Apple with a return to Madison Square Garden Garden Theater.
Southpaw Callum`s progress is being beamed on the UFC Fight Platform. His next opponent is being lined up and finalized. Most recently Bronx tough guy Ismael Villarreal, who gave Callum an exacting learning curve test in his most recent fight last November, dropping him in the tenth and final round, but Callum won a convincing UD, constantly outpunching him and racking up many more power punches.
Tom Loeffler of 360 Promotions who came to Mexico City for the Tenth Anniversary Memorial Service of Don Jose Sulaiman said: “Callum`s next fight is on March 15th during St Patrick`s weekend, back to the Theater in Madison Square Garden, within four months of his last fight, so we want to keep him very active. Callum has already headlined four shows.
“He`s fought twice in LA, once in New York, once in Boston. So we want to use the GGG model of having him fight in different cities, building his fan base. Naturally he has the built in Irish fan base, but he really has a fan friendly style, he`s continuing to learn with the guidance of Freddie Roach. It was a very tough opponent the last time around with Ismael Villarreal who was 11-1 from the Bronx, so that was a big learning experience, and we look for Callum to build on last year`s performances and take it to an even higher level.
“Callum has had four ten round fights at such an early stage of his career. So it`s definitely a steep learning curve. Times have definitely changed and with Callum`s amateur experience reinforcing this with more than one hundred fights. He`s fought every styles. With Freddie Roach, Callum is a big southpaw, a huge puncher, a good boxer and he`s really taken to the professional style well. He puts on exciting fights, which the fans just love to see.
“A world title this year would be a little premature. He`ll step up with regional titles. He will continue to defend his WBC USA Silver Title and whenever the opportunity presents he`ll look to challenge for a world title. But I would say realistically, anywhere between fifteen to twenty fights he might be ready for this challenge.”
