At a press conference in the Auditorium of the Federal Police Headquarters, the launch of the fifth edition of the amateur tournament of the various branches of the Federal Protection Service.
The President of the WBC, Mr. Mauricio Sulaimán, said that these are the type of initiatives that our country needs, since it is through sport that positive changes are produced.
He stressed how imperative it is participate in sports, not only to work on fitness and to stay healthy but also to work on our mental health.
The tournament will start on November 15 and end on the 17th will take place in the Huayamilpas Ecological, Cultural and Sports Park.
Police Chief Jorge Aaron Hirschberg welcomed everyone, especially former world champions Lupe Pintor and Francisco Vargas.
He said that boxing goes beyond being a sport, as its training promotes discipline, perseverance, dedication, professionalism and passion. These are attributes that every police officer and public servant should have.
He added that boxing is one of the sports that manages the three basic principles of a police officer, which are: health, self-confidence and day by day being better citizens through dedication.
He commented that on this occasion there was a rigorous selection process, because for this edition the demands will be higher since all the departments participate with their best athletes since everyone wants to take home the Green and Gold Amateur Belts.
He urged all participants to give of their best, since he recognized that future world champions emerge from this type of tournament.
Gerardo Reyes, general director of professionalization, commented that one of the objectives of the Federal Protection Service is to prepare its members in the academic and sports fields, considering that the latter forms the character and the sense of healthy competitiveness and assured that new boxing idols will emerge from this tournament.
