Saul “Canelo” Álvarez against Jermell Charlo is around the corner and once again the T-Mobile Arena will host a majestic fight night on September 30.
The Mexican superstar will put his undisputed super middleweight crown at stake against Jermell Charlo, who reigns the super welterweight division with the 4 belts.
This will be Canelo’s third consecutive defense of his 168-pound crown, after scoring victories over Gennady Golovkin and John Ryder.
#CaneloCharlo is the first time in the four-belt era that two reigning undisputed champions collide.
Jermell Charlo
Jermell Charlo has a record of 35 wins, 1 loss and 1 draw. He began his path to the undisputed throne in a rematch fight against Tony Harrison where he regained his WBC super welterweight belt.
He then fought a unification bout against Jeison “Banana” Rosario, in which he took the IBF and WBA belts from him. He attempted to achieve undisputed status against WBO champion Brian Castaño.
However, they drew in what was one of the best fights of the year. In their second fight, Jermell defeated Castaño by KO and achieved undisputed glory.
Canelo Alvarez
Saúl “Canelo” Álvarez has a record of 59 wins, 2 losses and 2 draws, he has been super welterweight, middleweight, super middleweight and light heavyweight world champion.
Canelo began his quest for undisputed 168-pound glory by winning the vacant WBC and the WBA title defeating Callum Smith via UD, then won the WBO belt when previously undefeated Billy Joe Saunders couldn’t continue after eight rounds, due to a fractured eye socket. Canelo won the IBF version with an eleventh round KO of Caleb Plant.
