Saúl ‘Canelo’ Álvarez fights Jermell Charlo defending his undisputed super middleweight crown, on September 30, at the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas, Nevada.
After defeating British John Ryder at the Akron stadium in Jalisco, Mexico, the superstar will return to the United States to present his 168-pound championships for the third time, on this occasion against one of the undisputed champions.
Jermell Charlo, 33, the undisputed super welterweight champion, has an impressive record, coming into this fight after defeating the tough Argentine Brian Castaño.
The American has a record of 35-1-1, with 19 knockouts and this will be his debut at super middleweight.
Among his most significant rivals have been Brian Castaño, Austin Trout, Gabriel Rosado and Tony Harrison.
Seasoned Canelo has a 7-1-1 record in fights in the month of September, including his last win against Gennady Golovkin, in Las Vegas. His only two losses to date was against Floyd Mayweather and Dmtry Bibol.
Canelo held a training session open to the media, guided by trainer Eddy Reynoso, where he demonstrated that he is in great and grand physical condition for this important commitment.
This is some of what he commented at the end of his training:
“I always want the best fights there are. I’m excited to be in this fight. It`s a fight that people have been talking about for a long time. I’m excited to show people that I’m in a great place in my career. I always prepare to the maximum, no matter where it is, I am always focused. These types of fights motivate me. I like to be underestimated. That’s what excites me about this fight.”
Eddy Reynoso commented: “Canelo is ready to fight whoever he is. Right now, we are totally focused on Jermell Charlo and that is our task on September 30. We will be ready for whoever comes next.”
