Lil Oscar Day began when Oscar Cantu received a proclamation in the city of Kingsville, TX for winning the WBC USNBC title on March 22, 2014.
A few weeks after the fight, the city declared that every March 22 would be the ” Lil Oscar Day”.
Every year a free community event is organized to support children and young people, as a heartfelt thank you for all the years of supporting Oscar during his boxing career.
The main objective is to support students with school supplies as well as souvenirs and boxing items.
“It was an incredible time celebrating the 10th Annual Lil Oscar Day at the H.M. King’s Spring Festival. They were all champions after playing our game and were able to choose school items and special prizes from the WBC. Big champions supporting little champions!,” Oscar commented on his social media.
